Am I crazy or I heard that they were looking into engines powered by hydrogen???  How costly would this be? I also heard that is absolutely harless to the environment because it expells water in the form of vapor....

I heard about hydrogen powered cars a couple of years ago, I think.  I can't remember the show but it was discussed as a possibility.  Has someone actually started development?

Yes I've started researching I started out a blank page in the on demand hydrogen program. I started at www.hho4me.info and bought the books which answered tons of question highly recommended

It's a really interesting idea, and you're right about the emissions. the big stumbling block seems to be the storage of the hydrogen.

As hydro mentioned this is not a new concept. It is being done already.I think the problem is that the big investors are looking at it the wrong way.I don't understand why they keep researching the storage of hydrogen when they could just use an on demand system. This eliminates all the saftey hazzards of storage.Check out the Water4Gas site, they show how people are already using this technology to assist their gasoline engines.

Makeahybrid.com has a control unit that maintains the amperage on the booster. It does work. I have one on my 2002 Q45.

There are special machines that produce water out of the air.  So if that is possible, then why not take the hydrogen from "the air"?  It is there, mixed in the water.  Of course I don't have any idea of how to do something like that.

The main problem with hydrogen cars right now is the lack of infrastructure. This means production, storage and distribution. There are about 25 hydrogen fueling stations in California and a few other states and that's about it. Right now no one wants to step up and build the necessary stations.

Actually speaking it's not the lack of infrastructure but lack of awareness among common man who genearally tends to go along with gas.

To make it prompt we are not operating the car on water alone but instead using the gas from the mini hydrogen generator as well as the gasoline/air mixture that your car normally uses. This hydrogen gas from the generator increases the octane level of your gasoline, making it much more effective and therefore we get increased power.

This HHO gas permits everything in the burning chamber to burn totally and therefore we get reduced emissions, more power and a quieter, smoother engine response. The applied science is proven with thousands of people running their cars with this water technology. The best part about this technology is that everything you need to develop an elextrolyzer is in your garage.
For those who desire to know, yes there are kits normally in the range of $900.00 but if you do it yourself then the price falls to $80 with a trip to the hardware store and some assembly is required.

Don't think it's impossible because water cars are worldwide, just a bit of knowledge and all ends up well.

That's the trouble with this thread is that it reflects the general confusion between hydrogen cars and HHO assisted vehicles. Hydrogen cars use compressed hydrogen gas and that gas is generated outside of the vehicle. HHO generator are aftermarket devices a person adds to his gasoline-powered engine to increase mileage. These are two very different technologies.

The 2008 Hydrogen Road Show just finished off this past weekend in Los Angeles after hitting 30 cities in 13 days. I was there for a couple of hours to see the hydrogen cars, both fuel cell and ICE vehicles roll in. Hydrogen seems to be gaining more publicity now and I hope it just keeps growing.
